Time to take another look at GeoServer
I haven’t gotten around to playing with GeoServer as much as I’ve liked. My previous job wasn’t much into GIS, or at least it hadn’t gotten onto the bandwagon yet, despite some very enthusiastic and talented advocates. #
But now I see GeoServer 2.0 has been released, and there’s nobody holding me back, so maybe now’s the time to return to it #
- Web admin and user interface
- Ajax- enabled!
- Wicket architecture and plugin extensibility
- Cascading data stores #
This is gonna be good. Now I just need to find a spare box to install upon. #
edit: Speaking of tools that I haven’t gotten around to playing with just yet, another is ESRI ArcExplorer for Web-based map services. I downloaded it a few months ago only to find out that the video card on my hobby computer wasn’t supported. I’ll have to upgrade my hobby box now, too. #
