Lucy, things get posted to my blog because I find them interesting, without political motivation. i don't know know much about the Uighers, only that I find the situation interesting. And that is the most important underlying reason or criteria for posting anything on my site.

bobby,

What is the reason that you posted this article here? Do you agree with the editor of ngm? Do you think those Uighurs are human rights fighters or criminals?

Bobby, do you know the two Uyghur men in this photo NatGeo held up as "strugle for human rights" were actually involved in a terrorist attack on July 13? Search Youtube with "Urumqi mosque" and see footages of their mayhem inside and outside a mosque.

Couple more observations about this exteremely biased report:

- Teague seems to have neglected to mention 125 of the first 156 people killed in the Urumqi riot were Hans (IMHO it's no longer a protest when pre-planned mass slaughter of innocent civilian with mechetes prepared ahead of time.)

- The article's claim that two days later the Hans took revenge, is inaccurate. According Carolyn Drake's peer, Peter Foster of London Telegraph, who was on the ground, reported police in Urumqi protecting Uyghurs from Hans following the 7/5 riot:

http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/news/peterfoster/100002643/urumqi-criticism-and-credit-for-the-chinese-police/

“Han crowds on Tuesday effectively were allowed to go round and round in circles, exhausting themselves in the hot sun while never actually being allowed to reach the objects of their anger. To my mind, this was very smart policing.

Then on Wednesday, after an overwhelming show of force, the police made sure that the Han protestors largely stayed off the streets.”
